Basically, we have three kinds of days on a caravan
trip. For the benefit of those who’ve
never been on a caravan, let me explain.
Travel Days – where we travel from one city to
another. The day is spent packing up our
RVs, driving, seeing the sights along the way, and setting up in the new
campground.
Touring Days – where we take a tour of a city. Usually this is by bus, and often we have a
hired tour guide to tell us about the area.
Free Days – where we are free to do whatever we want.
Today was a free day.
It was a mixture of the mundane and the marvelous.
Alan took out the garbage
Monte got propane for his 5th wheel.
Sheila sorted supplies under the bed.
Shannon reported that a crisis with Tuzi had been averted
and that her puppy is in fine health.
Spence got a pair of pants from Jim because he’d been
whining about not having a “nice” pair of pants.
Eric and Bettie got their 5th wheel back after
extensive repairs / improvements were made to it.
Pretty normal stuff.
Another use of free days is to revisit sites you saw on the
tour the day before. In our case, the
places were so socked in with fog (during the tour) that we could only imagine
what was there.
We went back to Signal Hill and were greeted with terrific
views since the fog had lifted.
Did you know that when you are at Signal Hill, you are
closer to Liverpool, England than you are to San Francisco? Californians, you could drive to Buckingham
Palace faster than you can drive home!
We also went to the Geo Centre and saw some great displays. One of them was an Inukshuk. I think he could have won a prize in our contest.
After that we drove through “Jelly Bean Row” and were
delighted to see all the brightly colored houses. When I go home I want to paint my condo
purple, but I’m not sure what the condo association will say about that.
