Day 11 - Travel Day - Caraquet, NB

This was a travel day from Perce’, Quebec to Caraquet, New Brunswick. We traveled 258 miles.  After a few quick stops for groceries, fuel or the bank, we head towards New Brunswick.

The only wildlife we see is the moose on the road sign.

The countryside is dotted with lighthouses and spectacular views of Chaleur Bay framed by the rugged shoreline.

The purple flower growing wild along the road is known as Fireweed. This beautiful flower is found throughout all the Canadian provinces where the summers are short and warm and the winters are long and cold.

At Campbellton, we cross the Interprovincial Bridge into New Brunswick. We have been warned to avoid a low clearance on the roadway immediately after the bridge. Everyone passes OK. One of the first things we notice is the signs now begin to appear in English as well as French. Quite a relief after 10 days of traveling while attempting to interpret the French road signs. Also, we now must set our clocks one hour ahead as we have entered the Atlantic Time Zone.

We pass through quaint scenic towns of Port Daniel, New Carlisle, and Charlton Sur Mer. Passing through the town of Maria, we take note of the Petunia flower baskets that have been placed on all the light poles bordering the street. We wonder who waters these each day!

We arrive at Camping Colibri in Bertrand, New Brunswick under rainy skies. After getting settled in we meet at the wagon masters site for drinks, snacks and stories of our day. Madi wears a bug suit

Our Tail Gunner, Roger Scott has been a blessing in the help he has given to all. Debi rewards him with his favorite, a home baked Chocolate Cream Pie.

It has been a long day and will be an early bed time for most.
